I’m 20 years old, living in Connecticut in the United States. I’m currently a junior in college and I’m going for a double major in English and Communications. I’m a lover of all things food, DnD, and making positive connections.<\/div>\n

1. Tell us about your writing\/published books<\/h3>\n
<\/div>\n
I have two projects at the moment. The first in erotic lesbian short story called “The Pool Girls.” It’s under my pen name just for erotica, Dawn Daniels. It’s available as an ebook on Kindle. My main project is a work in progress with the working title of “The Missionaries.” It follows an interstellar theologian and her team on a quest to recover a lost religious artifact. It should be very fun and very LGBTQ positive. As of right now, I’ve been contacted by Channillo to potentially put it up there in parts, which is very likely.<\/div>\n

2. Do you do research for your books?<\/h3>\n
<\/div>\n
Yes, I very much do. I think the biggest help is to have diverse resources. There are many places online where you can get advice on writing characters of different races, genders, beliefs, etc., which I believe is very important. I really enjoy the Writing with Color Tumblr blog! Of course, I’ll never be perfect, so beta readers are always a good idea too.<\/div>\n

3. How do you approach worldbuilding?<\/h3>\n
<\/div>\n
I take a lot of inspiration from tabletop games and their inherent improvisation. I tend to expand the world as the characters see it while also trying to remove myself and coloring it through their eyes. If they don’t know, the audience doesn’t know. Not only does that increase suspense and mystery, but it minimizes the chance of an info dump.<\/div>\n

4. Tell me about your main character<\/h3>\n
<\/div>\n
In “The Missionaries,” Avelta is a kind of theologian\/researcher\/spirit guide for the whole universe. She’s lived a handful of lives as reincarnation is common, usually spending an entire lifetime getting deep into different beliefs and culture. Now she’s more of an all purpose guru for anyone who comes her way, welcome or not. She’s intelligent and willing to share that, but it can oftentimes get her in trouble. She’s trying to track down a galactic artifact, the Ring of Divine Sight, with a team she luckily recruited. We’ll see how she handles this new environment.<\/div>\n

5. Would you want your book made into a film?<\/h3>\n
<\/div>\n
I think a space opera like that would actually work better as a TV series. I’m very much inspired by Critical Role, the DnD livestream, and its episodic nature. And while my book has dark moments, it’s mainly a fun adventure following Avelta and her trio of new pals.<\/div>\n

6. Have you always wanted to write?<\/h3>\n
<\/div>\n
Yes, definitely! When I was a baby, I had this train set and apparently I wouldn’t even play with it. I’d just write stories on it. As far as I can tell, I’ve been writing since I was born. And even though I hope to make a living off it, I’m not looking for blockbuster bestseller levels of money. I just want to show people worlds they’ve never seen.<\/div>\n
