I am a\u00a0 writer\u00a0from Salford in Greater Manchester UK. I \u00a0graduated from Salford University\u00a0in 2009 with a degree in English and\u00a0Creative\u00a0Writing. I did some articles for an amateur Photography and\u00a0 Film Magazine. However I have not worked on any work since\u00a0as I settled into the\u00a0negative mindset\u00a0of no one\u00a0would\u00a0 like my work. Recently\u00a0I decided\u00a0the one way to guarantee that is not to write anything. I decided\u00a0to join the Orton Meetup group and start to put my work on their site and read my work on their read out sessions. As such I am half way into my current work in progress.<\/p>\n

1.Have you always wanted to write?<\/h3>\n

I always wanted to write as I like to imagine a lot and I get inspired by books, films and art to write poetry or books or come up with concepts in my head.<\/p>\n

2. Tell me about your current work<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
I am currently writing a dystopian\u00a0tale about how censorship\u00a0is causing the rise of a horrible fascist regime. I based it upon my dislike for the current cancel culture climate. As to me discussion and debate\u00a0has always\u00a0brought about better outcomes. The systematic changes\u00a0to the world wont\u00a0happen by banning stuff for firing people we don’t\u00a0like. What works is changing their mind and altering the system to be more fair. That is the centre of my book’s premise. Also to my mind as a minority its important that those not of that minority\u00a0represent them in a human way and that has not always been thcase\u00a0and I wanted to address that in my book.<\/div>\n

3. How do you handle criticism?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
Criticism if delivered fairly\u00a0is a good thing as it helps you improve as a person. If you as a writer can’t\u00a0take criticism\u00a0then you may be in the wrong field. You are\u00a0in a\u00a0 creative field some people\u00a0will love what you do some people will not. I think you can learn more from a bad review than from a\u00a0 good one as it may address shortcomings\u00a0in your prose\u00a0you were not aware of. I think it’s\u00a0always good to look at any work as a building block to being a better writer.<\/div>\n

4.How do you fit writing into your everyday life?<\/h3>\n
\u00a0I write at the end of my work day I set myself a goal of 1k words per night. This is achievable\u00a0most evenings\u00a0after gym. I’m very driven so this is easy for me.<\/div>\n

5. Tell me about your main character\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
My main character\u00a0is a naive man with a strong driven personality and his flaws are he’s\u00a0too single minded sometimes and too trusting. He has a deep relationship with his girlfriend. However his ambition\u00a0to try and change something leads into a life of perl.<\/div>\n

6. What do you do when you have writer\u2019s block?\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
Writers block when I have\u00a0it I watch\u00a0media tele or film and see if anything\u00a0from it influences\u00a0me in my current story not plagiarism\u00a0but maybe a plt point i could manipulate\u00a0different to being my own. I think the best works pull from others to make their own.<\/div>\n
