Trialling Amazon ads – Week Three

Trialling Amazon ads – Week Three

14th- 21st August

I’m feeling a little bit overwhelmed by it all this week and I think you can see that in this post. Some things are working, others aren’t. Last week the ads performed really well, but there’s been quite a sharp decline this week. However, overall I’m still in profit so it’s a positive experience.

Now is the stressful part of compiling the data and figuring out how to proceed.

Sponsored Product Manual Targeting

This is where you enter your own keywords to select the audience your book is marketed to.

Book: A Spring Fling at Hotel Mayfair (ebook)

Price: £2.99

Dates: 14th August – 21st August

Budget: £2 daily

Total impressions for 14th August – 21st August: 136

Total clicks for 14th August – 21st August: 0

Total Sales: £0

Total Spent: £0

Total earned: £0

This ad was new this week so I could dabble in keywords again. I’m learning that I really don’t know much about keywords when it comes to my books! This highlights an area for me where I need to do (lots) more research.

Book: The Cornish Vintage Dress Shop (ebook)

I’ve been a bit of an idiot with this ad. It appears last week when I paused it, I forgot to restart it…

Take this as a lesson to triple-check everything! I’ll get back to you next week on how this one is doing.

Sponsored Category Products Manual Targeting

This is where you choose similar category products to market your book.

Books:

A Merry Christmas at the Castle (ebook)

A Spring Fling at Hotel Mayfair (ebook)

Price: Both are priced at £2.99

Dates: 5th August – 31st August

Budget: £2 daily

Total impressions for 1st August – 7th August: 12,582

Total clicks for 1st August – 7th August: 13

Total Sales: 3 orders and 388 pages read

Total Spent: £2.11

Profit? Profit.

There’s been a bit of a downturn in the impressions this week so I might up the daily budget to £3 a day to see if it makes a difference. I’m happy with this ad’s results, but now I must explore how to push it to the next level.

Overall thoughts…

My mind feels like it might burst with all this feedback! For me, it seems sponsored category ads are the most successful. I’m going to trial one next week for The Cornish Vintage Dress Shop and compare that with the keywords ad for the same book.

Once the month is up I’ll share sales, income, cost, etc… so it might make more sense.
