To say I enjoyed this book would be a huge understatement! It’s not my usual genre so I was surprised to find myself quickly swept away by the story. As I turned each page I realised I was completely immersed in the story and felt connected to the characters. The story was fast-paced and full of unexpected twists which kept my attention and stopped me from putting it down. I’ve already followed the author’s Amazon page so that I’m alerted when the next book comes out.

I believe Diana is in the process of re-releasing Descent with a publisher. Keep an eye out as it’s a brilliant book! Keep reading for a link to her FREE prequel.

1. What do you do when you have writer’s block?

When I have writer’s block, I simply either take a break or work on something else. My best ideas come when I’m just out and about living my life, so I always am ready to jot down things when I think of them on my phone. If I wait, there’s a 100% chance I will have forgotten that great idea I thought about while at work, etc.

2. Do you like reading the same books you write?

Yes. I’m mostly in YA, New Adult, fantasy and historical fiction. I have read other genres to exchange reviews, but those are the ones I tend to stick to.

3. What advice would you give to someone wanting to write their first book?

START WRITING! Write, write, and then write some more. You can’t do anything until you’ve written something! 🙂

4. How do you fit writing into your everyday life?

It’s tricky. I have 3 young children, I teach full-time, and I’m in a graduate program. I just make goals for the week and try to set a small amount of time each day to work on them. As my dad says, ‘There are 24 perfectly good hours in a day’. So sit down, substract your hours of sleeping, being at work, etc, and really look at where your ‘free time’ is, then schedule deliberate time to do what you’d like. We tend to have more free time than we think we do. 🙂

5. How do you handle criticism

Better than I used to! There’s always that first wave where you’re mad or upset, but never EVER send emails, posts, texts, or whatever while you’re angry. Take time to process it, then respond appropriately. Chances are whoever is criticizing is just trying to help you, or they’ve got stuff going on that has nothing to do with you. You were just the outlet. Shrug your shoulders, learn, and move on.

6. Tell me about your current work

I just released a FREE short story for the month of October, 5 Days to Die. It takes place in the universe of my novel’s series, The Demon Chronicles, and follows one demon named Britta. Here is the synopsis:
Britta loves Andrew. His twin brother Arius? Not so much. When Master Amani orders Britta to kill Andrew, she makes a macabre deal with Arius to kill him instead. Quickly, it all goes horribly wrong. Sometimes it’s better to keep what you have instead of making a deal with a demon.
