My favourite books of 2021

As part of the writing community, I get to read lots of books from relatively unknown authors. Let me tell you, this is such a pleasure and an honour. These days I find it difficult to pick up a traditionally published book after exploring the treasures in the world of self-publishing. From now until New Year’s Eve, I’m going to showcase my favourites. If your book is not on here, it doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. It’s been a very difficult decision choosing these books! They’re also not in any particular order.

Comrades, Concubines and Lovers by Graham Hunt

I cannot encourage you enough to pick up this book! It’s such an interesting read. For anyone interested in history, this is a book for you. It’s a firsthand account of Graham’s travelling in the 80s. This memoir covers everything from business to love. With an unexpected heartbreaking love story. It’s hard to put into words how wonderful this book is. A real eye-opener and insight into others lives.

My Review 

A truly fascinating read. The story recounts Graham’s life and his experiences as a travelling salesman from the 80s through to 2000. Graham’s experiences around the world were truly fascinating, especially his memories of Russia in the 80s. However, the story truly captured my heart when Graham met a very lovely Russian lady. Their struggles to be together were truly shocking. This book pulled at my heartstrings and left me pondering the ways of the world.
