My favourite books of 2021

As part of the writing community, I get to read lots of books from relatively unknown authors. Let me tell you, this is such a pleasure and an honour. These days I find it difficult to pick up a traditionally published book after exploring the treasures in the world of self-publishing. From now until New Year’s Eve, I’m going to showcase my favourites. If your book is not on here, it doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. It’s been a very difficult decision choosing these books! They’re also not in any particular order.

Made for each other by Shivani A Singh

This is a romance, but with a twist. It is set in India which gave it a different spin to the romances I’m used to reading. The cultural differences were obvious from the beginning and really added to my enjoyment of the story. It was an incredibly immersive story which I would recommend to anyone who enjoys reading romance.

My Review

I cannot tell you how much I loved this book! I love a book that transports me and Made For Each Other did just that. It immersed me in a different culture and a different approach to life. It was fascinating learning about Geetanjali’s life and how society viewed her as a woman. The romance between Geetanjali and Devendre was at times difficult to read and yet I was pulled in by it. I didn’t agree with aspects of it and yet the setting forced me to accept it for what it was. I couldn’t put the book down as I was rooting for Geetanjali, wanting her to do what was best for her, and her future. I love how the author explored certain societal constraints and pushed our female MC.

A wonderful read that will transport you.
