Do write under a pen name?

RL Bartlett is my real name. I chose to go by my initials rather than my full name because it was easier to find me on google that way.

How do you choose your book’s title(s)?

My poetry collections are named after stones that have the same theme as some of the poems. My first collection was named Amethyst because many of the poems because amethysts are said to have healing properties.

Have you always wanted to write?

I have loved to write ever since I can remember! Some of my earliest memories are of folding sheets of printer paper in half to make homemade picture books.

Tell me about your current work

I am in the process of submitting some of my poetry to journals, and after I hear back from them I will self-publish my second chap book. I am also working on an urban fantasy book about a young woman who discovers a secret about the company she works for.

What’s your favourite genre to read?

Usually my favorite is fantasy or poetry, but lately I’ve been reading a lot of nonfiction. I just read Hidden Figures, and next I plan to read Daring Greatly.

How do you fit writing into your everyday life?

I like to keep a note on my phone to copy ideas down when I’m away from home. I also try to do something for my writing every day. If I don’t actually write, then I try to do some editing or marketing on social media.
