Author Q&A with Justin Knight

1. Tells us about your writing/ published book(s)

I have written the science fiction/horror/disaster novel Crush Depth in a Bikini, and have now written the Harem Nights cyberpunk trilogy, due for release starting the 24th of this month.

2. Have you always wanted to write?

I have always wanted to write from a very young age. I was given a pad and pen and told to write a story when staying over my grandmother’s house, so she could watch her tv shows in peace. It was there that the writing bug bit me.

3. How do you choose your book’s title(s)?

I like whacky or fun titles that are different from most. I try to aim for ones that stand out in some way, usually with a bit of humour attached.

4. How do you fit writing into your everyday life?

During a weekday, I’ll write in the afternoons and evenings. During the weekends, I write from the early morning until I am tired. As I have an iPhone, I use the Scrivener app when I am at work sometimes.

5. How do you handle criticism?

If the criticism is constructive, I’ll pay attention and make notes for later. If it is very negative to the point of insulting, I will simply ignore it.

6. Describe your perfect character to me

A perfect character is a flawed one people can find a way to relate with. Superheroes are boring to me now, and I don’t believe in strong characters of any gender. If a character has an interesting enough arc or journey, I’m sold.
