1. Tell us about your writing/ published book

Diary of a Scribbler is a true account, a self-help book designed to help people survive and conquer serious bouts of illness, aided by natural non-addictive medicines, herbs, minerals and superfoods. It gives an account of what happens to some women in the wake of the menopause, eg how I stopped a major angina attack with RAW GARLIC in my early fifties.

While some women sail through the menopause with minor hot flushes, women like me find themselves plunged into heart attacks, strokes, dementia and insomnia. With the power of natural and herbal medicines, I nipped my dementia in the bud, before neural pathways were severely damaged.

Between minor angina attacks, I started to write my journal, Diary of a Scribbler. At the same time I avoided doctors, painfully aware that as a FORMER fibromyalgia (FMS) sufferer, I couldn’t take STATINS to stop the attacks because they can weaken muscles. Having learnt about herbal and natural medicines in “The University of Life” for some 20 years BEFORE the menopause struck me, I began to draw upon that well of information and started to write my own survival guide, filling it with remedies which have saved my life. In 2014, I cured my FMS.

I published my ebook for the prime purpose of giving HOPE, INSPIRATION and providing a TOOLBOX for survival for women going through the menopause. Also for men who may also develop heart disease and can’t see a doctor, while doctors are fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

2. Do you like reading the same books you write?

Yes. I like reading self-help books. I started to read them in my early thirties. I began to read books by Dale Carnegie who wrote “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” and Susan Jeffers who wrote “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway.” Also, “Self-Help” by Samuel Smiles – the 19th century father of the SELF HELP genre.

3. Do you write under a pen name? If so, tell us how you chose it.

Yes, I write under my pen name – Esme Sinclair.

I chose it because I’ve always liked the name Esme as a Christian name since I was in my teens. Then I later combined that with the name Sinclair, having come across a character called Emil Sinclair while I was reading Hermann Hesse’s literary masterpiece, Demian.

4. What advice would you give to someone writing their first book?

Write with heart and feeling. After you’ve written it, perfect it to the best of your ability, hand it to your literary agent or a professional editor to help you knock it into shape. If you lack motivation, focus on the reasons why you are writing. Remember that Determination is the great agent of success. That’s what I kept telling myself, while I was going through the wars in my fifties and writing my book.

5. Describe your perfect character

My perfect character would be kind, compassionate and selfless like Mother Teresa and a philanthropist like Bill Gates.

6. Would you want your book made into a film?

Yes – because a short documentary film of my account of real events and miracle cures could reach a wider audience and spread the word that, for example, garlic can stop heart attacks, and a simple amino acid (a natural non-addictive medicine) can stop strokes from paralysing people. People don’t have to die needlessly in their homes of heart attacks while doctors are busy, saving the lives of their coronavirus patients.
